Boeing Vs. Airbus

The greatest Aviation rivalry. First of all, let's look at the history of Both Companies

Boeing

Boeing was founded by a William E. Boeing who was a wealthy entrepreneur. He became fascinated with flying. In 1910 he bought the Heath Shipyard which later became the company's very first Airplane Factory. In 1915, William bought a Martin 'Flying Bird' Seaplane. With the help of his associates he disassembled it and made his own airplane. After that Boeing started making many aircraft. When world War I broke out, Boeing made planes for the U.S. Navy. When World War II broke out, they started making airplanes not only for the U.S. but all the countries that were interested in buying them. After World War II, Boeing started making passenger aircraft again. Some of them were, the Boeing 377 Stratocruiser & The Boeing 707. However after that Boeing were shut out of the Commercial Market for Aircraft. During the Cold War, Boeing made bombers & Fighter Planes. In 1958, Boeing delivered it's 707 in response to the De Havilland Comet, Sud Aviation Caravelle & the Tupolev Tu -104. Currently, Boeing makes around a 100 different Models

Now let's take a look at Airbus' History

Airbus is more of a recent company which popped up in the 1970s for competing with Boeing, Lockheed Martin & McDonnel Douglas. It was formed by the European countries. It's first aircraft was the Airbus A300.

The Largest Boeing Aircraft:

The Boeing 747 - 8

The Boeing 747-8 is a wide-body airliner developed by Boeing Commercial Airplanes, the latest and largest variant of the 747. After introducing the 747-400, Boeing considered larger 747 versions as alternatives to Airbus A3XX. The stretched 747 Advanced was launched as the 747-8 on November 14, 2005, for a market forecast of 300 aircraft.

The Largest Airbus Aircraft:

The Airbus A380 is a wide-body aircraft manufactured by Airbus. It is the world's largest passenger airliner. Airbus studies started in 1988 and the project was announced in 1990 to challenge the dominance of the Boeing 747 in the long haul market. The then-designated A3XX project was presented in 1994; Airbus launched the €9.5 billion ($10.7 billion) A380 program on 19 December 2000. The first prototype was unveiled in Toulouse on 18 January 2005, with its first flight on 27 April 2005. Difficulties in electrical wiring caused a two-year delay and the development cost ballooned to €18 billion. It obtained its type certificate from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on 12 December 2006.
